I use Pinterest more than the average person probably.
It has become the reason I am decent at cooking, have a cute apartment & how I get inspired by outfits.
But it’s also been a great aid in making quicker decisions.
I realized a few years ago that I felt encumbered by the amount of decisions I had to make in a day. What to make for dinner, should I have made overnight oats for the morning? I probably should be eating more kale. I need to get my nails stronger. Should I try to find out my colors? Decisions. Decisions. Decisions.
I knew I needed a change. I started to think of ones that I could eliminate or make easier. And clothes were one of them. So went to Pinterest.
Of course like any good millennial woman, I already had a board of clothes I liked. But what if i made more boards? Boards that helped me and organized my brain. So I did that.
Here is my board “closet&clothes.” We are going to mostly ignore two boards: vibe and nice/barca. “Vibe” is just images I like of people and I don’t have any concrete reason for them, I just want to keep them. “NICE AND BARCA” is a board of outfits I’m inspired by for our upcoming trip.
So let’s break it down⬇️
BOARD ONE:
”Capsule Have”
All the outfits on this board is some version of something i could make with the clothes I already own. It’s usually not a piece for piece comparison or translation, but it has the closest aesthetic to something already in my closet.
Every morning I look at this board and get inspired by something I could wear that day. If I don’t already have an idea, this will give me one. And if it still doesn’t, I usually go to a outfit formula:
tshirt + jeans
leggings + oversized shirt
all black
BOARD 2 + 3 + 4
”fall or spring” “summer” “winter”

These are my seasonal boards. When I see something that I like that I don’t currently own, I save them to one of these boards. There is an element of each of these outfits that is something I don’t have and would like to add to my wardrobe. Once I do own said item, it gets moved to my “capsule have” board.
This also helps me notice patterns. Like, my “summer” board for example. First off, it is all Laura Jade Stone because she is goals. Secondly, that board has brightly colored button ups so I know to be looking for those. On my “winter” board are a lot of really oversized sweaters, etc. etc.
I hope this helps! My biggest encouragement is to always find a system that works for YOU. Adapting mine 100% might not work for you and that is okay. Find the system that makes you take a big exhale, the one that makes your brain feel a tad more organized. It’s worth the trial and error and initial upfront time investment I promise.
please do this for your entire pinterest. i am also a pinterest junkie and will EAT IT UP. xoxo
